This is a rare Claire McCardell by Townley vintage orange plaid cotton dress. This strapless vintage dress closes with a side zipper at the waist and has a long attached sash that can be worn in many different ways.

The dress has both the Claire McCardell clothes by Townley label and a Sports and Country Clothes Lord & Taylor Fifth Avenue label attached. The bust size is flexible because of the way the dress ties and there are great side slit pockets. There are gathered stays on each side and we estimate the dress to fit a size 2/4 most comfortably.
